QR Codes For Your Conference

Attendee Interactive now offers conference planners the ability to utilize QR codes for their conference. A QR code generator is now included in our Abstract, Exhibitor and Speaker modules. By incorporating QR codes within your conference, your attendees will have a more interactive experience. For example, if your conference offers scientific posters you can add QR codes and attendees will be able to easily download an electronic version of the traditional poster directly to their devices. To learn more, read below about a client's success story.

Definition of a QR Code

The meeting and events industry is beginning to see more and more QR Codes (or Quick Response 'Barcodes') at conferences. QR Codes are a relatively new, automated, digital way to give and receive information. At a conference, they are used to give information about a company website, an abstract submission, a speaker's presentation, education session handouts, or an exhibitors booth giveaway.

Attendees will need a SmartPhone or iPad2 to access them, with a QR Code Reader Application, such as Google Goggles (Android) or NeoReader (iPhone). Once the free app is downloaded, attendees simply hold up their device point it at the QR Code and the information will be displayed on their phone.

QR Codes provide attendees a quick and easy way to access conference information without having to write it down on paper (which usually gets lost), type it into their cell phone notes (which they promptly forget about), or carry around bags of paper handouts (which get thrown in the trash).

Client Success Story Using QR Codes

Our client utilized Attendee Interctive's cost effective ePoster software and included QR codes on over 15 of their most complicated scientific posters. By offering QR codes on these posters the attendees:

  • could quickly download poster information onto their electronic devices.
  • gained flexibility, as poster information can be downloaded anytime the posters are displayed during the conference.
  • could analyze and absorb poster information post-show (on the train, plane or in the office).
  • didn't feel rushed through the poster exhibit worrying about missing another session.
  • had correct contact and follow up information about poster displays.

According to show organizers, attendees were thrilled to be able to have the posters downloaded onto their electronic devices. They will be incorporating the codes onto more posters in the future.
