There are over 1.2 billion active mobile-broadband users in the world and that number continues to grow. In the US, 83% of the adult population has a cell phone, and 42% of them are smartphones. In 2011, Deloitte published a study stating that the combined sales of smartphones, tablets and non-PC netbooks will be well over 400 million, outpacing PC sales. Simply put, conference attendees are becoming more mobile. If your conference has not thought about its mobile strategy, now is the time to start. An example would be to develop a mobile friendly conference website. A mobile website is similar to complete websites but usually only contains pertinent information that a user would want to see on their handheld device. An example would be, on the mobile website only registration, agenda and scheduling appears, but the user would have the option to click to the full website to access more information. Mobile websites can be updated instantly, are compatible across devices and are immediately available to a user who has internet access. I would welcome the opportunity to assist you in developing your conference mobile strategy. We would first determine your conference goals and what your marketing outreach would be. From there we can develop a complete plan that includes both mobile and traditional technology.
